Reminiscences of the Tiamat's First Born (Parts Iv and V) - The Macabre Dreams of the Tiamat's Son

Posted on 10:08 AM | By oungi | In , , , , ,

((From the Journals of the Demonic, called: "The Aeon -Shadows") (Part Vi))

Rock Scorpio

Unfortunately, I must relate this following story, or tale of the First Born, for it is of a dream he had while in the room within the crust of the earth, when he fell feet first, into it after following the demon, and I would prefer he tell it. I say, I must relate it, for he did not put it into his diary, and you, I'm sure would be concerned in it, and he no longer can or will tell it, and so I am left to the challenge, so bear with me please.

To be upfront right from the beginning, I'm not sure if anyone knew how the dreams came about, they just did, and so real they seemed to the First Born. In the dream he was restless, back home in the forest with his mother, back when Yort, the great city of Asia Miner was in its infancy, when his mother had temples within those thick walls, when life in general was becoming intolerable for him. Within his head each day seemed like a war just to make it through, hidden thoughts came out, they were dark thoughts, and sounds of such. He could even hear the ants talk, and the cricket's feet move, sounds no one else could hear, perhaps it was this shack, he told himself, for he did not know he was in a Macabre dream at the time, that was in 6000 Bc.

He could even hear the babbling and madness of two grasshoppers in a state of fury. Later on in life he would observe if this legitimately was a dream, or if it was real. But for me and you, to the best of my knowledge it was a dream, but you would never convince the First Born of this. In any case, ghoulish hints came to mind for him, thus, feeling mental tension, that these creatures, and sounds were magic, hoary magic from those who wished to do his mother harm, and perhaps him, if legitimately he became a liability, or got in the way. She was the beast of the world you know, most all feared her. When he had woken up from the dream, he swore it could not be of his imagination. Dubious old forbidden secrets he knew, or he said he knew, from the sounds he heard.

He told his mother this, but she laughed, saying in jest, "Are you now my consulting savior?" Thus, she took no precautions as he beggared her to do, for the insects were talking about a battle to be, in the middle of Murdock and her, both qualified warriors, and supposedly, they heard Murdock talk behind her back to whomever, a ghoul I suppose.

It was not unusual for the First Born to believe in such things, he believed in stranger things in his younger days, it was queer thought, that he expressed them to his mother. And of procedure her advice was to hush up. The First Born could not have told her what he expected to happen, he did not know, and if he would have said, she was to be mangled in a great battle, he may had come out headless after the speech.

The First Born studied this dream for a long while, finding an accessible spot in the forest where he could think clear headed. When his mother spotted him in the forest thinking, she asked, "Do you have a touch of brain favor, dreams begin early in the night, and inviting devils come and work on you, bleak they are in winter, but they still come slanting their evil, think no more of them, they are simply annoying, endurable, but annoying?"

But the First Born felt beyond his sanity laid the answer. perhaps he was mental too much, he was hear way too much; and potential he found a window where he could descend within his dreams-escape the realities of life, using his sensitivity, and his expected senses hearing all such details. Ye it caused him panic, gravitational panic.

In Times to Come
From the: 'Tablet of Destinies'

Marduk, son of Ea in times yet to come, took arrows, spears and clubs and killed the Tiamat, slicing her in half, his ambitions were to become king of the gods. Marduk was the chosen champion of the gods. It was the Tiamat that gave birth to the first generation of gods (thalassa).

Death of the Tiamat's First Born
((From the Journals of the Demonic, called: "The Aeon -Shadows") (Part V)

There was much controversy on how the First Born died, I shall challenge all these tales, and hesitantly tell you the nervous truth, if not shocking. Tiamat was the "ultimate" personification of a salt water beast, a god, a freak of nature, who roared and smote in the chaos of traditional creation. She was older than time itself, and had many children. She had many offspring, in particular those that came from the sea, giant offspring, giant sea serpents, and storm demons, fish-men, scorpion-men and many others. perhaps that is why the demon of the desert hated the First Born; his mother could have been the Tiamat, envy, jealousy, and revenge is in most living things. In any case, the First Born was named just that because he was born above the waters, on the surface. Easy as that; she had a lover, Kingu, but I shall not get into that, it is neither here or there, it just was. But let me get back to the premise.

Chance has shown herself capable of many odd things, but it wasn't opportunity that killed the First Born, more will one find the truth in his diary, clearly he had a flare for dramatics, and a swollen imagination that could arouse the spirits of the dead.

After visiting Egypt, he had come back to the city Yort, and got deeply complex with his mother's occult life, he may have even become a deity for worship in her temple, contrary to his diary, that makes him guilt free of all destined reflections.

But I have examined his live thoroughly, taken all my evidence, and put them into theories, and came out with what I feel the obsolete, undisputed correct one, undoubtedly, a genuineness piece of work, on my part. There was fear on his face when he died, fanatical. I saw it, or I should say, his remains, which are mummified.

Lahum, first born, son to Apsu, and the Tiamat, they mated. For the most part, he looked like a snake, and could, and did appear to humans as a bearded man; for he was called hairy in his time. There was a dispute in the middle of the two brothers, of distinct fathers, and the First Born would not return to his Egypt, and Lahum, now as recognized in the city as Marduk's favorite, as was he to the Tiamat. Anshar, s sibling to Lahum, saw this dispute, he was a sky god of sorts (this was the second generation of gods, the Tiamat being of the first). while the region of Sargon Ii (in what is now known as ancient Mesopotamia), was cast into stone, framed into Babylonia stone, in the year 689-627 Bc.

How he at last escaped, is someone else story, but he did, for he wrote the diary did he not, but it was not until late in his life did he write the diaries called "The Aeon -Shadows"

Interlude
And afterwards by the Narrator

I was only going to make part I the end of the story at that, and then came part Ii, and somehow I got to part Iii, where we are at now, and this Interlude. Then I got thinking: The First Born has learned many things in life up to this point, unwillingly perhaps, and even unconsciously, but learn he did, all the same. Such as, he did take the first step that finally led to the second, and into what he had planned in the first place, to go beyond the forest, to seek out new adventures, life up in his tree tower was becoming boring, if you recall. You see he had a plan, but he wanted to leave it, but life does not always allow this to happen, thus, he was forced to go forward in it. And life should have a plan, and let's hope it is in agreement with you. Second, he was braver than he thought. He fought the Manticore, not because he wanted to, but to survive he had to. Fear grips us, but it does not have to paralyze us.

Fear can be good; I would think if one had no fear, he was crazy, dangerous, or foolish. Well this is not where it all stops, it perhaps is somewhere in the starting of the First Born's starting to understand life in it's fullest. Third he thought, because he was of the same race of the demonic creature that came to greet him, that the creature would be un-hostile to him, you know-like: kind to kind; that how could things get worse, but by following the demon, they did get worse, it of procedure made him think, but it was after the fact. You see, in life, if, you let folks take operate of it, they do just that, and it is commonly not for the betterment of you. Oh well, he is studying is he not, the hard way, the way I suppose I learned. And should we go on to a next episode, I dare say, what he could learn. Forth, he ended up in a room underground, like a tomb of sorts. And again he meets fate, which is the big spider.

When I use the word fate, I do not mean it lightly, he was bound to, after following the demon, what did he expect, a place with slaves from a demon, perhaps so, sometimes we just get on the wrong track, and think good can come out of bad. Oh well, he learned again, things do not work that way. And so he fought the spider, but he did not give up hope, and he found a way out. Often times this happens, if only we look, and grab opportunities. If we let them pass us by, we simply do not deserve them in the first place, or so I feel. Anyhow we are at a new juncture, and I am contemplating if I should plan a new episode, it was not in my plans in the first place, but you see, plans like life, change. Let me also add, in part Iv, perhaps in this ongoing story, the First Born knew more than what I thought; for what I learned was that premonitions are given for reasons, and dreams can be more than dreams. And if the imagination can dream it up, perhaps there is more truth to it, than the eye can see. So yes, I have learned from the First Born also.

Parts Iv and V were written on 1-3-2008, as Part Ii and Iii on the 2nd of January, and part I on the first. The last two parts, are mostly told by the narrator, and for good reason, the main character demands it to be so. But the First Born has learned dreaming is more than dreams, and death lingers on each page, of the unwritten book of life. In part four, envy and jealousy are complex here, with sibling rivalry. It is not uncommon, and often we the older generations find our kids that went off to change the world, came back, changed, and not the world. And often times they find things do not remain the same upon their return. And so a word to the wise, what you shun now, maybe shunned back at you later, so the First Born had to face. Restlessness in no excuse to walk away from what is called family, if you do, one must count the price, for there is always a price to pay; it might be wiser to leave the rock as it is or was, why move it? There are commonly more worms gathered there since last you saw it.

Note: The First Born looked very much, if not same to the mother Tiamat, one can see it by the drawing I did on the internet, under the Tiamat series. Or check my site to see if my wife put the drawing on it for me.

The Rock Moves to Hollywood

Posted on 8:26 AM | By oungi | In

The Rock Moves to Hollywood

Before he made it to Hollywood, Dwayne Johnson was known as the Rock, a bone-crushing, chest thumping wrestling super star, member of the Nation of Domination.  He won the Wwf Championship a mere two years after joining the Wwf; he was a nine-time World Heavyweight Championship.   Before that, Mr. Johnson was a collegiate football player, who enjoyed some success, although he never did make it to the Nfl Sunday Ticket. Now, this multitalented hulk of a man, with his Paul Bunyan like build, and his chiseled looks is production a name for himself on the big screen. He has played the typical action gung-ho action star who is all muscle and minuscule else. But now, slowly he is being transformed into a important man. The demand is, will he be able to make it? Will straying from his tough guy roots, see this half Samoan previous wrestler fall on his laurels? Watch his transformation throughout his movies on satellite Tv, and see for yourself, if you think he's got what it takes to move beyond his roots.

The Scorpion King: This was The Rock's first starring role and he earned a whopping .5 million dollars, a report for a debut lead actor. Within this high action thriller, Mr. Johnson played Mathayus the Scorpion King, who has to defeat the evil sorcerer Memnon. This flick, with its sweeping desert battle scenes should be enjoyed in no less than high definition.

The Rundown: In this movie, The Rock takes a comic turn. He stars as a pro bounty hunter who doesn't use guns due to a previous incident. Of course, the Rock in fact doesn't need any extra weapons though. In the Rundown, Johnson is hired to fetch his boss' son from the jungles of South America. From their ensues an inviting mix of action, slapstick comedy and adventure.

Be Cool: Here, the hefty previous wrestle plays a gay Samoan body guard named Eliot, who is also an aspiring actor. This role without fail marks a turn for Johnson and he nails the part. He is both charming, funny and tough. You can watch this crime caper on satellite Tv; it airs quite frequently.

Doom: This movie was based on the eponymous video game. It was filmed to mimic the video game aesthetic and it incorporated a balance of Cgi and prosthetics; the movie is filled with action, blood and thrills. Dwayne Johnson plays the primary hero action star. This movie did get pretty bad reviews, but it's still worth the watch if you're a Rock fan.

Get Smart: Here Dwayne Johnson plays hidden agent 23 in the filmic remake of this excellent Tv comedy. Although he pretends to be the hero, 23 is in fact a bad apple and must be stopped by the bumbling agent Maxwell Smart played by funny man Steve Carell. Watch all the hijinks in Hd, for the best laughs.

Race to Witch Mountain: This is Johnson's newest movie and it marks a definitive move on the star's part to try winning the house market. In the movie, the previous sports star plays Jack Bruno, a Las Vegas cab driver who teams up with an astrophysicist to recovery two gifted siblings.

The True Meaning of Horoscopes

The True Meaning of Horoscopes

Most population think a horoscope is the minuscule four-line piece of advice based on your birthday that you find in the newspaper. Ok, that's one definition, and a terrifying example of what the craft of astrology can do. But a horoscope is also what astrologers call "the chart" and if you have ever had a natal reading, you probably received this strange circular photograph with funny signs and symbols, none of which made any sense to you, but, for the price of your reading, this was one of the goodies.

A horoscope, that circular picture, is genuinely a map of the sky, an astrological map of the heavens keyed to the time and place of a definite birth. It is a map that appears typically as a two dimensional chart. It shows the position of the Sun, the Moon, and planet's at the spoton moment of a birth. The format of the map can differ from country to country as well as from culture to culture. But anyone forms the horoscope takes, one thing is base to all horoscopes, and that is that it is based on place, date, and time of birth.

The earth moves from west to east, so the Sun appears to move from east to west. This 360 degree circle of the zodiac is divided into 12 parts, each 30 degrees apart and called the zodiac signs. This is exactly like the twelve numerals on the face of a clock except that all things is backwards from all things you normally know about reading a map.

East is to the left, West is to the right, North is to the bottom, and South is to the top. The Rising sign the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth is at "the 9 o'clock position."

The 12 zodiac signs are Aquarius, Aries, Cancer, Capricorn, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Taurus and Virgo. Each sign has special characteristics that distinguish and mark itself from others. In setting up this astrological map for the birth of a native we divide the circle into twelve sections.

Each of these areas is called houses. Each house defines a definite area. The first house concerns the native's personal identity. The second house deals with the natives earning power or source of supply. The third house concerns the native's thoughts or sense of communication.

The horoscope map, in expanding to house areas and spatial designators called signs, also contains a third symbol, the planets, including the Sun and Moon. While the houses of the horoscope identify areas of touch and the signs set the stage under which these areas of touch will operate, the planets act as the focus of attention or symbols of force bringing the other two elements together.

A spoton interpretation of all these sky bodies exposes much about the native. They could be view of as weather conditions in the sky at the moment of a native's birth.

The Scorpions of South Africa

Posted on 6:58 AM | By oungi | In ,

While scorpions may not be the animal that immediately springs to mind when contemplating South Africa, the region is home to many interesting varieties. The country is home to over 160 species of scorpions, together with the world's least venomous scorpion, the 'Hadogenes', which is also the world's longest, at over 21cm! However, it is the unique abilities of the scorpion that are the most fascinating. In harsh conditions, scorpions can survive for over a year without food or water. Incredibly slow metabolisms enable them to wait out these unfavourable conditions.

Habitats

Rock Scorpio

Varieties of scorpions can be found throughout the many different regions of South Africa, each having very exact requirements. Their distribution in South Africa can sometimes be mapped back to substrate composition, sand systems, or even the rock types of their territories. For example, one species, the 'Opistopthalmus holmi', is confined to the Namib sand principles in Namibia. Its evolution led it to come to be extremely specialized, able to navigate life among the continually shifting sands of the deserts, with long legs for walking, and fine hairs that act roughly like snow shoes.

Ultraviolet

Scorpions are timid, secretive creatures, and this is readily apparent when trying to find them for study. Camouflaged during the day, and most active at night, it's difficult spotting the creatures as they go about their business. But even looking for scorpions at night becomes difficult as they hide at the first signs of any light. Using an ultraviolet light has come to be the most trustworthy recipe among experts to search scorpions in South Africa, as they emit a green glow under the light's rays.

Footwear

A tasteless warning for travellers is that you should take extra care when leaving clothes, shoes, or sleeping bags covering for fear that scorpions will crawl inside. Although with many species of scorpions in South Africa that are extremely venomous, it's always a wise precaution to check, the midpoint scorpion is unlikely to find your shoe an interesting place to shelter. Many desert-dwelling species live under the ground or at the base of vegetation and plants. Burrows supply a small protection that is cooler and more humid than the covering during the day - as well as a cosy nook to hide from predators. Some burrowing species will spend up to 95% of their life inside their burrows.

Hunters

Hunting tactics play a huge part in the life of a scorpion. The majority of scorpions are opportunistic, lurking within their shelters or burrows and only attacking when something they can overpower comes within astonishing distance. However, two species of scorpions deviate from the trend, 'Parabuthus transvaalicus' and 'Parabuthus granulatus'. These species actively hunt for prey at night and seem roughly arrogant as they move around, seemingly unconcerned at being observed.

Venom

All scorpions possess neurotoxic venom, but unlike other animals the venom is made up of several toxins which achieve different functions. There are pain-inducing components for warning away large predators, and paralyzing toxins aimed at immobilizing prey animals such as insects. The least venomous scorpion in South Africa, the Hadogenes, has venom that is roughly harmless, although they do sport a powerful pair of pincers that are strong sufficient to split a human fingernail. Scorpions have yet, however, to catch on as a recipe of a cheap manicure!

comprehension Your Dreams

Posted on 10:43 PM | By oungi | In ,

We all dream. Do you have long dreams? Do you remember your dreams? What do you think about them? Do the most improbable things happen in your dreams, such as plunging into a ravine, climbing a mountain or, flying over tall buildings? Do you often find yourself naked in your dreams or having lost something and cannot find it? every person dreams although not every person remembers them. How often have you been delighted by a dream and how often have you felt frightened by them? We've all read articles listing the meanings of dreams about good on bad omens such as: dreams where your teeth fall out mean an imminent death and so on. Sometimes these lists are as meaningless or as obscure as the dreams themselves.

Rock Scorpio

Do dreams have any influence? Do dreams have any significance? This transcript is all about comprehension your dreams, not a list of meanings. The prognosis of a dream is important. Why? Because dreams are `born' in the subconscious and it is in the subconscious where a great deal of facts is stored and often inaccessible to normal waking consciousness. Within our subconscious are our darkest fears, our incommunicable hopes, our un-confessed desires, and our deepest anxieties. Let's look at comprehension our dreams and maybe just maybe, we will come to understand ourselves a little great look upon dreams as a kind of mirror and when we look into this mirror we often see ourselves as we beyond doubt are.

All you need to do is try to remember your dreams and in retention a narrative of them for about a month you will soon eye a pattern, a theme, a sequence. Some dreams make it possible to avert disaster, others offer clues to a qoute some seem absurd yet, and after a little prognosis many come to be more logical. As I said before, every person dreams and as such some dreams common to everyone, tempered of course by separate situations but nevertheless common to almost everyone' How long do dreams last? This can vary from few seconds to 45 minutes, even longer in some cases. The one thing you must remember is, to the subconscious mind our daily meaning of items has no bearing whatsoever. Even when you are daydreaming and someone asks you. What are you thinking about? Your reply will often be: "Oh! Nothing much." Yet, a long and complex scenario has passed straight through your mind.

Our dreams are independent of our will and of our sense of morality. We have no operate over them whatsoever; we can only watch them unfold, like being at the movies. Our dreams take no list of convention, tradition, time or space, good or bad. Dreams are symbols and once you understand the symbols you'll come to understand what's going on in the deepest part of your mind' you will come to understand what's beyond doubt worrying you or what you secretly fear. We dream in symbols, if you can grasp the meanings of the more universal symbols then your dreams won't worry or concern you as much but will help you to understand yourself great than many years of 'analysis.

A emblem is something to which we attach a meaning, e.g.: A 'flag is a piece of canvas yet the meaning behind the flag is a emblem of our nation, we salute the emblem and what it stands for, not the canvas flag' A stop sign is a sign yet it is a emblem of danger if we ignore it's meaning. A rose is a universal emblem of beauty, the cross, a emblem of suffering and resurrection. Most symbols are charged with emotion, some with love, others with fear, just think of the swastika' Dreams are the way your subconscious mind communicates with you mind, not in your daily language but in the universal of symbols. We are all the same yet, we are all different. Dreams have a wider more universal foresight of all the probabilities and possibilities known to man. Some of the many inventions of all time were dreamt' before they became a reality. When we are awake we make observations about many things and often forget them but do we beyond doubt forget ˜? beyond doubt not, they are stored in the subconscious only to face later in our dreams. Let me give you a few examples of the symbols, which you might see in your dreams, and an interpretation of them.

The Sun: To see or sense the Sun in a dream would indicate a time of increased energy, vitality, and enthusiasm. A time of fruitfulness, of increased creativity. Looking or sensing the Sun in a dream would throw some light on a qoute or dispel fears you might be harbouring.

Water: Dreaming of water carries a wide variety of meanings and one must analyse ones dreams over a period of time so as to explicate properly. Water is a universal emblem of the subconscious and if you see yourself swimming in clear water you are likely to be entering a period of increased clarity of thought. If the water is murky then a time of confusion is near. If you dream of fishing then a time of questioning where your life is at and where it is going could be an precise interpretation. If you dream of a fountain this is often a sign of increased confidence, force and lucidity. If you are drowning in water you are likely to be going straight through a period of confusion, it's time to seek pro help.

Your Mother: Very seldom do you dream of your mom as she beyond doubt is unless it is a recollection of a new event. However, the emblem of the mom is one of protection, security, and forgiveness, of nurturing and of wisdom. This emblem might appear in thousand and one disguises such as a house, a cave, a garden; the list is endless yet the symbols will remind you of a mom figure. Interestingly, it is a sign of abnormality to dream frequently of your actual mother, the meaning here is that you have not emotionally separated from her.

Your Father: Like dreaming of your mom you won't beyond doubt see your corporeal father but will be reminded of him by the symbols in your dream. If you constantly dream of your corporeal father it is often a sign of emotional immaturity. The Father emblem is one of force authority, virility. In dreams the emblem is often one of a guide, of whom you ask questions and one who gives you advice. The emblem of the Father is reminding you to "stand on your own two feet."

Your Childhood: In many cases a yearning to return to days of innocence. Analyse your actual childhood and see if your attitudes have altered or, if you are responding to situations as an adult or as you would a child. Maybe you are trying to please too many population in your life.

Your Husband or Wife: Again the actual someone is unlikely to appear in your dreams but the need for a mate is what your dreams are beyond doubt telling you. The need for a fulfilling connection is what this emblem is all about. In fact, population who are in love with their partner often worry about not Looking them in their dreams and wonder why. If you frequently dream of your spouse (apart from the odd occurrence) you may be overly dependent on others for your existence. By others I mean the whole world. It's time to begin loving yourself a little more.

Illness: Never take this dream literally, often as not if one is dreaming of being physically ill then one is more likely to be mentally ill. Psychologically, something is not right in your life and it is time you took steps to remedy anything your prognosis tells you aren't right.

Death: If you dream about death then you are troubled by it! This is natural for one day we are all going to die. Just as we came into this life alone we will go out alone and this is what frightens most population To dream of Death means that something has `died' something has come to an `end' and it is time to face this fact and get on with your life. Maybe your job, your career, your child bearing years, your potency your connection with a partner, a love affair. The list is endless.

Funeral: More often as not one sees one's own funeral and worries about their own demise. Remember, we dream in symbols and what this dream usually means is that something in your life must be buried and un-forgotten.

Flying: [Travelling upwards]. In dreams this is often linked with power and greatness. No matter how you see yourself in reality this emblem (be you flying in a plane like Superman or going up in a lift) is one where you possess an inner force to cope with anything life is bringing you. You will rise above your difficulties. This emblem often accompanies an achievement; a goal being reached a spiritual awakening.

Falling: [Travelling downwards]. This symbol, no matter how it is disguised, is all about a descent into the subconscious where fears must be faced; anxieties must be dealt with. The `primitive self' often makes itself felt while this time and one faces one's own, sometimes brutal impulses. In dreaming of Falling you are being asked to remember, once you are at the lowest you will rise again. Don't be afraid of hitting rock lowest and you will eye incommunicable strengths, which will help you, pull your life together. Many people, having lost all hope dream of falling and awaken before they reach the lowest of anything pit they are sinking into. If you have faith that no harm will come to you then a `turning point' will soon be reached in reality.

Fire: Now you are tapping into one of the many sources of psychic energy. Your life is about to be transformed, purified, altered.

Sexual Dreams: Very seldom will you beyond doubt dream of a corporeal organ, more likely a representation of such. Let's look at the phallus. This emblem is all about life and living and if your dreams contain the following you are being asked to exhibit rather than inhibit your natural inclinations. To live life more creatively, to trust in yourself. The subconscious mind will distort your image of the phallus by calling up images such as a serpent, a tree, a sword, a stick, and a tower. The list is endless. Look for anything, which stands erect, stiff, rigid, straight, and upright. Be rigorous in your interpretation of a sexual dream because the sexual instinct is so powerful that it colours even the smallest of human behaviour. The desire to know more about all is what this dream often indicates a thirst for knowledge. The vagina is someone else corporeal organ, which you will very seldom dream about, in its corporeal form but in a myriad of symbols. Caverns, caves, cups, holes in the ground, pools of water, gardens filled with flowers. everywhere soft, damp and enveloping (a rainforest!). This dream is all about the need for security, about the need to eye you. You are being asked by your subconscious to accept yourself and your life as one of the choices you have made. To accept accountability of your actions, to break free from your fears and repression's.

Nakedness: One of the most common of dreams. Indicating feeling vulnerable in your reality. You could be shy, insecure or suffering an inferiority complex. It's time to like you, "warts and all.

Pregnancy: In your reality you are waiting for a time when you can break free from anything ties you down. Soon, there will be a `new life a re-birth time to start again.

Prince'S & Princess'S: It's time you stopped kidding yourself that someone will sweep you off your feet (a knight in shining armour) or awaken you (a sleeping beauty). Life demands that you live your life in your own way.

Rocks: Dreaming of rocks is all about stability. If you find yourself scaling a rock face you will soon overcome some difficulty. If you fail to reach the summit a dissatisfaction over some scheme is indicated.

Rose: A dream emblem of spirituality, of beauty, a emblem of perfection.

Spiders: A complex symbol, one that can terrify the dreamer. In reality something unexpected is about to happen. You may find yourself enmeshed (in a web) in some difficult situation or, are complimented on a job well done (a spiders web is an engineering marvel).

Returning To Places One Knew As A Child. You are running away from something in your life or, are not facing a decision you know you must make.

Being Chased: You are about to be found out for something you feel guilty about. The list of symbols can be as lengthy as a list of meanings so I won't continue. All I ask is that no matter what your dreams are all about your must look for the meanings of the symbols and not explicate them too literally. So, the next time Mr. Sandman comes calling you should be Looking send to what your dreams have to say

The Eagle & The Vulture - Two Archetypal Bird Dreams

Posted on 1:34 PM | By oungi | In , ,

When a someone is too deeply embedded in the collective, outer reality of daily life, the discovery in his or her own dreams of universal, archetypal images... Can be a freeing experience. --James Hall

In the world of archetypal symbolism birds in our dreams often indicate a spiritual endeavor. After all, they fly above us, closer to the heavens than we usually find ourselves. Their leisure looks exhilarating. In the body of a jet where we might find ourselves flying faster and higher than birds, we still lack open air, the wind in our hair so-to-speak, and we're confined in mostly small seats among other people, who rather than lifting their arms entrained in synch with ours, are coughing, eating, sleeping, working, or seeing more implicated than carefree. Therefore when we observe our fine feathered friends in dreams, we think the context of course, but often think of the heights and liberation of the spirit.

Rock Scorpio

Of a very large species, unless we are ornithologist, we mostly categorize the birds we see in dreams generally. Two prominent dreams I had at a time of spiritual initiation in my life delivered messages about two divergent paths due to the differences in the winged creatures and the situations in which they appeared. Yet both dreams appeared to promise worthwhile journeys.

I had been steeped in sorrow when a dream lifted me out of my depression approximately immediately. At the time of the dream I had not been a trainee of dream work, but even in my relative ignorance, I could feel that the dream was a blessing. As background information, let me state a that I had lost my father in adolescence. When I was thirteen he suffered a nervous breakdown and when I was fifteen he died of a self-administered overdose of drugs. He was a doctor, so I often wondered if he had intentionally ended his life. Another pertinent fact relating to this period in my young life was that my mum told my siblings and I that he died of a heart attack. In her own shock and pain, she soldiered on, never visibly mourning, so that we did not express our grief either.

I grew up with a confident suspicion about my father's death but I kept it to myself and repressed what emotions I had about those two difficult years. I was just becoming a woman and my arrival into womanhood was affected by what I had witnessed, a kind of quiet and sometimes not-so-quiet desperation in my father. I began to pick boyfriends and later, men friends, who would abandon me and I often reacted with some hysterical end-of-the-world responses to the termination of these relationships.

By the time that my bird dreams occurred, I intellectually understood that my reactions to the loss of a partner were irrational and at times, out of proportion to the seriousness or lack thereof, of the relationship. I "knew" that my unarticulated grief for my father surfaced and added exacerbated my sense of loss.

Knowing however, didn't help the feelings to subside. So when in my mid thirties, I was suffering from the betrayal of a man I had been very happy with, I didn't seek out customary therapy, having gone through five years of that a few years back after a divorce. One day a friend recommend I see her astrologer who lived on an island in Casco Bay, covering of Portland, Maine where I was living. I liked the idea of crossing the water, an archetypal theme in itself, to find some answers as to why my grief was inconsolable.

I sat on the ferry at ten in the morning, smoking a cigarette. In those days I'd lost my appetite for meals and I lived on cigarettes and spring water. The clear October scenery hurt me with its gorgeous auburn leaves and cerulean sky and the appealing contrasting colors stabbed at my eyes like an insult, the whole scenery somehow appealing of my lost happiness. A day for lovers, I thought.

Whatever the weather, while that difficult time, I seemed to turn each day into Another intuit to mourn. The gorgeous vista of churning dark blue water wrapped nearby the speckled islands of the bay only made me feel my loneliness more intensely. In my self-contained universe, every song on the radio seemed designed to bring back the image of my lover, our romantic ritual of dancing in his living room. I wallowed in memories. Images played through my mind like some dopey refrain of the country music he'd introduced me to and yet, quite the wailing country diva myself, I kept bringing them back in order to ask myself why it hurt so much. Was it just the stock cliché, betrayal, jealousy, anger and humiliation I felt, or was it truly losing the essence of this extraordinary man from my life that caused me this irrepressible grief? I was convinced of the latter. Some things you just know.

As I debarked from the boat and turned on foot up one of the unpaved roads of the island, my anger was gone but the grief puddled up in my body so that only the consistent rhythm of my sighs, like the whitecaps, one after Another washing against the boat, could convince me I was still living. As clueless as the gaping gulls who waddled toward me in quest of a hand-out, I had crossed the water to find an answer. Once on the island, I followed the twists in the dirt road according to a scribbled map, my gaze drawn from the road signs to the wild flower gardens, the slatted fences and yards littered with tricycles and lawn chairs even this late in the season. The weeds which had begun to overtake the gardens seemed to smell of decay.

I entered Mary Alice's screened-in porch and rang the bell. Though I doubted I would find any solace in the reading, I was appealing as to what she could say without knowing me or my situation at all. Yet within my two hour meeting this lovely and talented astrologer, a wise woman and mistress of metaphor, was able to give me explanations about the brittle state of my psyche that made more sense than the reasoning I'd worked through in my therapy.

Her first image of me was that my hands were stuck in a Chinese puzzle. The more I tried to wiggle them out, the more I found them locked up. Without getting too technical, I'll just say that she showed me how two very intense planetary transits were at work affecting my moon or emotions, and Venus, my relationship life. She advised me to simply surrender, to sit in my rocking chair by the fire, drinking tea with my beloved blanket nearby my shoulders, playing my saddest country arias allowing myself to descend into the divine abyss of loss- (the key word here is divine) "Until you are lifted out," she said. "And you will be lifted out." She peered at me seriously; "And when you are, you will come to be someone entirely new."

On the social level, Pluto, the planet of ruination and riches, had just entered the sign of Scorpio where it would remain for the next twelve years. She explained that in increasing to my personal plight, the universe was development an energetic shift itself and that as we came closer to the millennium, many individuals were tapping into an awakening. Humanity itself was gearing up for a major evolutionary leap, one which would take many years to come to be apparent. Oh yeah, the harmonious Age of Aquarius, I thought, remembering the sixties musical Hair. So how come I'm miserable? She said my soul had chosen this particular impact and would be chance to a new purpose but first, thanks to Pluto's renewal technique, it needed to be stripped of emotional dependencies, so that I would learn the true nature of love, which was unconditional. She explained that I had three planets in the eighth house, the natural home for Pluto. Later, reading about Pluto I came over this quote by the eminent Jungian-Astrologer Liz Greene: "If there are many planets in the eighth, the individual must learn to look darkness in the face (85).

I didn't for real understand much astrology then, but I did know that I had a loaded eighth house and that mythically, the descent is often the way into transformation and I understanding of the poet Dante in his dark woods, the mythical story of Persephone's abduction, Odysseus' trip to Hades and the many literary figures and writers who went to the underworld before returning with new knowledge to deliver to the upper world.

I was also aware of the many poets who never rose from their descent: Plath, Sexton, Berryman, Crane, and so many of the French writers I'd studied in college, as well as my own father. Mary Alice's astrological explanation for my crisis clicked intuitively in a way I couldn't explain. As psycho-babbly as these astrological terms ("Pluto square, Saturn transit") sounded to me at the time, I sensed there was something more profound at work. My sense of loss was approximately disproportional to the reality of the event. Among other things I learned about my chart that day was the fact that I had been born to lose my father and with each new loss, the customary feeling of loss was triggered.

My stricken mum had simply gone on when my father died. With her four children in tow, she never allowed herself or us to collectively grieve. It was a distinct era back in 1963. President Kennedy death preceded by father's by three weeks and in a way we were already grieving. My mum did what she understanding was the right thing. Put one foot in front of the other and move forward. But I understanding I had worked through the themes of the lost father in my therapy while the years of my divorce. To my surprise I found out that Saturn, the Patriarchal Father, was the ruler of my particular astrological chart and both my Pluto and my Saturn, as well as Mars, the planet of war and will, were located in the eighth house, the native house of Scorpio, the most intense and emotional sign.

I remembered clearly the night my father died. A detective had come to the door with his hat and coat. My mum stood at the railing on the stairs and told us our father had had an crisis and died of a heart attack. I remembered distinctly three words surfacing in my head: "he's killed himself." Even at fifteen, my own unconscious intuited the truth I didn't for real observe until I was twenty-nine.

On the trip back to the mainland, I felt for the first time since the breakup as if my emotional and reasoning state might now make some sense. Somehow believing in a spiritual recovery and recovery was the most heartening idea I had heard in many months and I had learned the succeed of the "Pluto square" was to clear away what was not "serving" my "higher purpose." I was, quite simply, in hell. Incarcerated by the classical God Hades, deep in the realm of depression and loss.

Another name for the ruler of subterranean spaces was "Plutus" which means "riches." Treasures and resurrections were also associated with Pluto. What I didn't know at that time was how very long the journey would take to yield these treasures. But shortly thereafter, in earnest, I was lifted out by a major archetypal dream. I recognized it as prominent by the numinosity of the images and the level of emotional intensity it left me with.

I am walking on the beach with a adolescent girl who is in my care. She is cranky and nagging me. I find her to be a real pain in the neck. At some point she steps on a twig and gets a splinter in her foot. I try to get the splinter out, and as I do, it flies from my hands, boomeranging out and then back into her forehead, hitting her right in the middle of her eyes. Now I am truly implicated about her because the splinter has come to be a wedge as big as a meat cleaver. I go to pull it out again but when I release it from her head, her head splits open in clean very surreal planes and out flies a huge bird. The two very cubically neat halves of her head fold back into place as the eagle flaps its mammoth wings and flies above and nearby us. We hold each other squealing and laughing in awe of the bird's power, acting like giddy young girls and I feel a deep love this girl.

This dream was a mammoth release. I wasn't sure of all the implications but I knew the girl I didn't want any part of was me at thirteen or fourteen, that it spoke of an adolescent wound, most likely my father's death, and that out of this girl's pain had come a huge bird. It seemed to me the wound of abandoning boyfriend and the wound of the father were overlaid and had thrown me back to the girl who had never healed, who lived with this issue now right in the middle of the eyes. Depending on the genus, birds are often associated with the spiritual world, the heavens, although some like the owl, albatross or raven are associated with more negative augury. But this bird was a huge eagle with an mammoth wingspan and what I felt from the image of it flapping its wings was the sheer corporeal power of its body. It was the joy of witnessing that huge, muscular body and feeling the drive of its wings that delighted me and the young dream girl. It is difficult to transport the fascination and pleasure we felt in watching the enormity of that bird take off.

The American and Native American emblem of the eagle is associated to celestial omnipotence. Furthermore, the eagle is associated with the sun's power. It is Zeus's companion in Greek myths, and to the Christian mystics, is a emblem of Christ's ascension, "... Also an attribute of John the Evangelist... Jung regards the eagle as a father symbol." (Imagine my surprise!!!) (The Herder emblem Dictionary 63) I found even more synchronistic meaning in J.C. Cooper's illustrated Encyclopedia of customary Symbols: "... release from bondage... Alchemic: The soaring eagle is the liberated part of the prima materia... Resurrection and the new life in baptism: the soul renewed by grace " (italics mine).

In the dream there was a transformation and the head wound was instantaneously healed. It was only later that I realized in Freudian science of mind that the foot wound is a sexual wound, the Oedipal wound from the father. In the story of Oedipus, the baby boy is shackled to a rock with a pin through his foot, left to die from exposure. Freud associated Oedipus' foot with the phallus, as his crime later in life is to unconsciously commit incest and beget children with his mother/wife. His father had wounded his foot and after Oedipus escapes and is adopted, he grows up and unknowingly kills his real father.

The young girl's splinter or foot wound becomes a wound in her head, an unconscious complex. When the wounding object is released, the spiritual power flies out in the form of the eagle. The alchemical gold of transformation is in the lead of depression, as the bird is in the whining adolescent's head.

I felt so clear and relieved that I for real understanding my trauma was now over. I felt I had arrived on the new level. Was this the "lifting out" Mary Alice had predicted? You will be someone new. This is not to say there weren't recurring relapses into sorrow and more pining, but I felt I had a leg up from the abysmal pit of depression I'd lived in for so long.

A few days after the dream I picked up a poem by the Hungarian poet Miraslav Holub and read the lines You ask the answer, it is but one word-Again. As I read these words I realized I wanted to go back into therapy.

Driving to a small shoreline town an hour away, I began going twice a week for two hour and a half sessions with Winona, a exiguous woman who grew up in New England and had just returned after spending twenty or so years in Belgium and Switzerland where she trained at the C.G. Jung form in Kusnacht, covering Zurich. By this time my ex and I had sold and split the proceeds of our house. I bought the beach condo and used some of the money for analysis. Due to the intensity of three analytic hours a week, while this round of therapy, my dreams both descended from the heavens and rose like steam from the underworld and I could not record them fast enough. Nor could I stop writing poems. It was a tremendously introspective but fruitful time.

It's said that the early dreams in an determination set the themes for the whole determination and so it was in my own experience. Here is my first dream (with Another bird) where I believe I found a new view of myself and the work I had to do.

I am on a gorgeous beach. It is the shape of my neighborhood beach but much more tropical more like the beach in New Zealand which I recently saw on the postcard I received from a dear friend. I am walking with my son and we see in the distance, walking towards us, an old woman wearing a babushka and flying a kite. My eight year old son is excited to hold the kite. As the old woman approaches us, she looks me right in the eye and holds out her arm to hand me the kite string. My son is jumping up and down, trying to grab it. As I look up at the kite itself, I notice it is not an inanimate object but a live vulture that the old woman is flying on a leash. I back away from her, shaking my head No... No, I don't want whatever to do with a vulture. But my young son jumps up and down saying "Take it Mom, Please take it." I keep shaking my head and backing away, pulling him away until I catch the eye of the old woman again and she nods at me as if to say, "Honey, you'd best take this vulture. It's yours. It belongs to you."

Most of us identify and identify the vulture as the bird who feeds on the dead. But what I didn't see at the time was the point of the vulture as a emblem of underworld wisdom. It was sacred to the Egyptians as a guardian of the threshold in the middle of life and death. In a Jungian sense, the image came from the social unconscious, a heavy archetypal image, universally comprehended as an relationship with the dead. Again, the emblem dictionaries emphasized interpretations synchronistic to my particular experience. "Since it eats carrion and transforms it into vital energy, the vulture... Knows the private of the transformation of worthless material into gold." (Herder, 211) And "Ambivalent as maternal solicitude, security and shelter, and as death-dealing destruction and voracity. All vultures were understanding to be female and symbolized the feminine principle with the hawk as male (italics mine)... As a scavenger the vulture represented purification, a employee of good. In Egypt it represented the mum Goddess, maternity and love, Isis having assumed the form of a vulture" (Cooper).

I had had two bird dreams, one with the father's wound which transforms to a mighty inner male form and one with a crone, a wise inner feminine associated with the Egyptian mum Goddess, Isis. Consciously, in my quotidian life, I had no intuit for having dreamed these symbols. I was well-known with neither at the time of the dreams. These were "big dreams," with social symbols which came at a time of crisis.

With the help of my analyst, I took the vulture dream in two ways. I was perhaps lifted out of my black hole but by no means had I put my depression behind me. It was time to mine this underworld and come to grips with its contents. As the realm of the dead, it also constituted the world of my father. I knew I must go back and look at how I had integrated the negative side of my father.

My young son's reaction in the dream, his excitement and enthusiasm to take on the vulture, to let it fly as his own pet, showed in Jung's terms, my young animus or my newly reborn creative male side, eager and capable of handling this material. I must succeed the vulture. And the old lady, whom I associated to my Polish grandmother, a pious and spiritually wise immigrant with an abiding faith in the supernatural-she was the archetypal Wise Old Woman. What had come to be of the hag, the dark side of the Great Mother? Foolishly, I understanding she was gone for good. I didn't realize then that in times of new emotional setbacks which carried repressed anger or fear, she would reappear again, often in the form of a bag lady. But for now, I was thrilled to have an older woman as an inner mentor, a crone.

I also had her in Winona, who was far from crone-looking but older and wiser than I in the world of dreams. But this old woman in the dream was also a inherent part of me, the part that was wiser than my ego, who I understanding I was, what I understanding I needed, that narrow range to which we limit ourselves from our unique egoic perception. I learned not to trust the ego's position in the dream. The aware self did not want the vulture; the unconscious animus, my son, was raring to take it on! With Winona's help, I could see from the wise woman's perspective that she knew best than my ego did. The dream clicked in the definite direction of my new "path." Dream work seemed a best friend to poetry, my chosen field. I've been immersed in the imagery of both ever since.
